With heavy rain all day Wednesday and even worse forecast for Friday you would be forgiven for writing off the Ladies and Seniors Scramble as a washout.
But no, the clouds parted, the sun shone and 80 players enjoyed a memorable day on Carthagena for this extremely popular mixed event.
You wouldn't know on the free-draining Carthagena that we had had so much rain beforehand.
Scoring was tight, with only four shots separating the top 11 teams.
But the worthy winners, with nett 56 were Olga Ebsworth, Shujuan Craven, Ian Riches and Nick Clare.
Close behind them on 57 were Catie Heathfield, Hazel House, Ian Billington and Kevin Tilleard.
And in third place, also on 57 but beaten on countback, were Chris Ellis, Karen Beagent, Paul Jones and Justin Thomas.
The two-tee start meant that most entrants were able to stay for the presentation which made for a convivial atmosphere in the packed clubhouse.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and a special thanks to the last-minute substitutes who enabled us to field 20 teams.
