Seniors away to Gog Magog September 15 2022

Organiser Steve Collins reports

It is always a great welcome from the Elders at the Gogs, and with coffee and introductions done, it was time for the main event. The weather was a lot cooler of late, but provided good golfing conditions.
Our Elders were Roy and Neil who gave us lots of much-needed advice. To our surprise we were 5 up after 5. It couldn’t possibly carry on, and our hosts proved they can steadfastly come back. At the halfway stage we were still 2 up when Algy, our Captain, playing like a true leader, holed an amazing  84’ putt, on the ninth to go 3 up. I have only seen this done in my dreams and on Sky Sports.
As before mentioned, the partnership of Roy and Neil were like a Rottweiler after a burglar. With the pressure on I manage to three putt the 16th after being 9’ away after my 3rd shot. It ended with a creditable half for Algy and myself.
The overall score was 6-2 to the elders.
It was a wonderful day, with a delightful lunch of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, with a fruit tart for desert, eaten amongst friends.
