Organiser Brian Bullen reports
The match was played in good weather on Carthagena and our opponents said how much they liked the course.
I’m very pleased to say that we won 4&3.
It was disappointing that Dunstable Downs could only supply 14 players.
The winning pairs were Robert Anderson and Richard Knell, Andrew Bowen and Terry Sweeney, Gerry Degaute and Andrew Lawrence, Nick Seeley and David Wilsher.Captain Algy Grimes and I were stuffed. 7&6. Algy played nearly to his handicap. My contribution was a par on the 7th hole and the nearest to the pin on the 8th.
The Dunstable Downs Captain played to 14 under his handicap! What can I say?
Examples: Birdie on 2nd, only two shots to the 5th green, par on 13th.
The meal of Fish Pie followed by waffle was enjoyed by all the players who chose it.
The relationship between the two sides was very cordial as usual.
Despite the high standard of golf, Nick Seeley told me that no one in his group managed to score on the 16th.
And not everything went smoothly off the course. One J.o.G member after his golf failed to coordinate his mouth and drink so he could not conform with the dress code.
Special thanks to Andy Shilton for helping me with the electrronucs and to Amy and Marcus for the quality of the food and looking after the special meals.
