Bailiff Shield August 30 2022

Seniors Captain Algy Grimes presents Daryl Hayler with the Bailiff Shield

High scores were the order of the day for the Bailiff Shield, played from the Carthagena white tees in sunny but slightly breezy conditions.

Twenty-one of the 81 entrants scored 36 points or more, with the winner, Daryl Hayler, scoring an impressive 42 points. Seniors Captain Algy Grimes said it gave him great pleasure to present Daryl with the Bailiff Shield, as they were old friends going back 50 years.

In second place, with 40 points, was Alban Macdonald, and in third place, with 39 points, was club Captain Rob Bage, coming just a week after his victory in the Senior Captain’s Day.

Four others on 39 points, but narrowly missing out on a podium place, were Vernon Toms, Richard Herbert, Jonathan Lean and Bill Conway.

Twos club prizes of £20.40 each in pro shop credit were won by Rob Bage, Warren Churms, Barry Donovan, Michael Newstead, Chris Saunders, Vernon Toms and Richard Westergreen-Thorne.

Third place: Rob Bage
