Rex Cleaver Championship Trophy Tuesday June 8th 2021

Congratulations to Clive Thompson, who won the Rex Cleaver Championship Trophy with an impressive net 67.

Also on net 67 but losing out on countback were Peter Imray in second place and Tony Whittaker in third. Commiserations to Tony, who looked good for first place until an 8 on the 18th dashed his hopes.

There was meant to be a play-off for first place but Covid arrangements would not allow this, so countback was used.

Just missing out on a podium place in fourth was Paul Hammond.

Well done to Philip Armstrong who scored an eagle 2 on the 17th.

Peter Imray recorded the lowest gross score of 77 to take the Bessant-East Scratch Trophy. His round included birdies on the 4th and 6th. In joint second place were Paul Hammond and Michael Case, each with a gross score of 78.

There was one withdrawal due to injury, so 82 seniors turned out for the competition played from the white tees in glorious weather on the Carthagena course. Sixty-nine players managed to enter their scores on IG, a creditable 84%. Hopefully by the time of the next competition the terminals will be working.

Raffle prizes were won by John Thoday, Kevin Donnelly, Lawrence Wilson and Barry Donovan.

Entrants for the Reg Batson will be published once the results of the Annual Medal and Rex Cleaver have been analysed.
