Dave Wrench receives the John Freedman Trophy from Seniors Vice Captain David Barlow
Congratulations to Dave Wrench who won the Annual Medal - and the John Freedman Trophy - from the Carthagena White tees with a score of nett 62.
Commiserations to Peter Imray who was pipped into second place with nett 63 despite an astonishing Eagle 2 on the Par 4 16th.
Third place went to Bob Isaacson with nett 64. Bob also won the Jubilee Cup for the best stableford score for a player with a handicap of 20 or over.
Ninety-three players took part on a fine but chilly day with little evidence of shorts!
The result shook up the Golfer of the Year standings leaving Fred Williams in first place, Chris Dennis in second and Anthony Bell and Dave Wrench in equal third.

"Two three woods. The first to just past the tree leaving me a fade to the green. The pin was in the back, left half of the green which meant that I’d have to flirt with the two bunkers. When I hit it, I thought it would be close to the green but wasn’t sure whether I’d faded it enough to miss the second bunker or not. As I approached I couldn’t see it on the green, so I expected to find it in the bunker, but when it wasn’t there, I was majorly (expletive deleted) off as I assumed it had hit the tree guarding the green and had bounced into the heavy rough on the left. Tony Munn, one of my playing partners, had by this time walked across the green to help me look and asked me if I’d looked in the hole. I immediately thought that this was a wind up, but sure enough, there it was!
I’d like to say this proves that God always shines on the righteous, but I won’t, just in case She is tempted to perform one of those bolts of lightning tricks."
