Bailiff Shield, August 31 2021

Seniors Section Captain Bill Walker presents winner Paul Hammond with the Bailiff Shield

High scoring was the order of the day for the Bailiff Shield, with the added thrill of a rare hole in one.

The winner, on 41 points, was Paul Hammond, whose score included birdies on the 7th, 10th and 14th.

In second place, also on 41 points, was Rob Bage, and in third, on 40 points, was Brian Bullen.

The competition was played under grey skies with most players getting a brief soaking.

Despite this, 48 of the 82 entrants scored 30 points or more. And the man behind that hole in one was Pat Gilgallan, who achieved it on the 4th with a three wood. He didn’t even realise what he had done until he went looking for his ball with a wedge in hand and realised it was in the hole.

Raffle winners were Keith Hargreaves, Paul Marshall, Bill Conway and Gavin Little. The competition raised £209 for the Seniors’ Captain’s charity.

In second place was Club Vice Captain Rob Bage
