Seniors vs Wellingborough away, August 9 2021

Organiser Neil Pinnington reports:

For nearly two hours of our match at Wellingborough we thought that, despite the grey skies, we were going to escape the rain. Then the heavens opened and we were subject to a thorough drenching. Thankfully this was reasonably short-lived and the match was finished in warm sunshine. The team fought through these changing conditions to deliver what our Captain assures me was one of the better results of the 2021 season. An honourable away draw of 4 wins and 4 losses.
Special thanks are due to Malcolm Lee. As first reserve, he was roused from his bed at 7am to make a mad dash to Wellingborough. He then assisted Ian Riches to deliver the best win of the day (5&4).
Special commiserations go to Rob Anderson and Jim Peacock who were hit by a late change in their Wellingborough opponents. This meant that Rob was giving 14 shots to both opponents, one of whom apparently never missed a putt all day. Unsurprisingly Rob and Jim were not one of the wins.
Both David Crosby & Ralph Black (4&3) and Peter Wade & Ray Smart (3&2) contributed to the wins. Even your Captain and yours truly fought through a tense and high quality match taking the final 3 holes to finish 2 up.
