Day One: Championship Course
Twenty-seven of John O'Gaunt Senior Section's finest gathered at The Nottinghamshire Golf Club for three days and two nights of golfing fun.
The event, organised by Barry Donovan, kicked off on the Championship Course playing individual Stableford but with hidden teams of three.
After Day One the leading team consisted of Rob Ebsworth, Michael Newstead and Paul Jones.
The best individual score was recorded by Tony Phipps with 37 points.
Nearest the pin winner was Jack Shepherd.
Day 2: Signature Course
The day began with a slight hitch as we discovered that we had been double booked with a Ladies County match. Some nifty footwork by organiser Barry Donovan resulted in a short, but manageable delay to our tee times.
Most players enjoyed the Signature Course but, it must be said, found the greens incredibly fast and difficult to cope with.
Once again, the winning team was Ebsworth, Newstead and Jones.
Individual winner was Paul Jones and the runner up was Barry Donovan. Nearest the pin prize went to Steve Mathers.
Day 3: Championship course
The sun shone, the temperature rose and the wind dropped to a gentle breeze. And everyone had something to prove as we took on the Championship course once more.
The individual winner was Steve Mathers with 35 points followed by Russ Bodkin on 34.
Day 3 winning team was Russ Bodkin, Steve Mathers and Oz Osman. Nearest the pin winner was Graham Gadsden.
Overall winners
The winning team over the three days was Rob Ebsworth, Michael Newstead and Paul Jones. Overall individual winner was Russ Bodkin.
Thank you Barry
After the presentation of prizes there was one more surprise - for Barry at least. His 27 players clubbed together for a gift (pro shop credit) to thank him for an amazing three days. And the event was such a hit that the same venue has been booked for next year.
