Four captains, from left, Tony Lloyd, Jackie Lansdowne, Lucy Edwards and Peter Wade
prepare for their ceremonial drives - the first golfers to use the new first tee.
The four captains - club, ladies, junior and senior - kicked off their year officially with a ceremonial drive down the John O'Gaunt first fairway from the pristine new tee square.
Peter Wade, Club Captain, Jackie Lansdowne, Ladies Captain, Lucy Edwards, Junior Captain and Tony Lloyd, Senior Captain carried out the task proudly wearing tee shirts bearing the logo of their chosen charity, The Alzheimer's Society.
Earlier, the retiring Captains completed their Putt Out on the 18th green in front of a large crowd who had gathered after the Captains' Texas Scramble.
David Barlow, Seniors Vice Captain, stood in for Richard Westergreen-Thorne who was unable to attend.
Onlookers had placed "bets" on the total yardage of the four drives.
The winner was Paul Jones with a guess of 615 yards - just 3 yards off the actual total of 618 yards!
Honourable mentions go to:
Jake Wallace
David Barlow
Stephen Collins
Susan Lee
Hilary Pearmain
Warren Churms
All were within 10 yards of the correct total.
A total of £68 was raised, with £34 going to the Captains’ Charity, Alzheimer’s Society—a great cause that will continue to be supported throughout the year. The remaining 50% goes to our winner, Paul.
