Or should that be: Gentle Man? That man Gentle, a
member of a string of Gs ....... (with Goodson and Gilgallon)
just managed to miss first place by 3 points but at least Mr Gilgallon was
joint top scorer on the day (alongside Clive Morley) with 37 points. Clearly
Pat has fewer distractions these days and is able to focus more on his driving
.......... ;-)
Messrs Degaute (28), Curtis (31) and Westergreen-Thorne (35)
managed 94 points but so did Messrs Wakefield (35), Standen (35) and newby
Richard Brown (24) so, as dictated by the Rules (not my fault!!), Harry W's 35
beat Gerry D's 28 on countback for Harry's team to take third place (When Harry
met Gerry???)
But in the end Messrs Cobb, Donnelly and Evans
got their surname initials in a row to deliver the top team score of 100 points
and take the Gordon Percival Trophy for 2017. Congratulations to them.
The weather was kind to
us today with a breeze strong enough to make you think on club selection.
71 stout hearts took
part in the comp and most of them stayed to the end for prize giving.John McPherson did a sterling job in organising the comp and raffle. The raffle took a creditable £201 for Fred's charity so thank you all for contributing.
Last years winners of this trophy were John Wade Peter Hollingsworth and Captain Fred.
In Fred's absence, Jim Kerr managed to rehearse his Captain's role ready for next year - I promise he'll have the correct trophies to give out then!!! We persuaded Jim to use the microphone eventually, primarily because of the inbuilt instantaneous translation facility ....!
As the fisherman said: May your cod go with you ...
David Crosby - Hon Sec (added to by Vice Captain Jim Kerr)
3rd Place - Sam Standen, Harry Wakefield plus Richard Brown |
2nd Place - Tony Goodson, Pat Gilgallon and Gerry Gemtle |
