Baz Backhouse Trophy (Christmas Fayre) December 16 2025

Trevor Darrington is presented with the Baz Backhouse Trophy by
Club Captain Peter Wade and Seniors Captain Tony Lloyd

Everyone's a winner at the Seniors Christmas Fayre Competition and the atmosphere in the Burgoyne Suite was festive as 77 entrants gathered to collect their prizes.

With first pick from the vast array of meat, booze and chocolate prizes was Trevor Darrington who scored an amazing 41 points. Even more impressive as his game began with an air shot and a blob on his starting hole.

The weather looked extremely threatening as players walked to their starting tees on the Carthagena course for a 10am shotgun start.

It was almost dark as heavy clouds gathered and soon the brollies were up. But thankfully the rain didn't last long and everyone was left thinking "it could have been worse".

But it was a tough day at the office for many, with only five players playing to their handicap or better.

Two who did were Warren Churms in third place on 37 points and George Burnham in second place on 38 points.

Winners who were unable to attend the Presentation Evening earlier in the month finally received their awards from Club Captain Peter Wade and Seniors Captain Tony Lloyd.

Thanks to Nigel Underwood for organising the competition and to Barry Donovan and Algy Grimes for sourcing all the prizes.
