Winner: Seniors Captain Tony Lloyd receives the Jim Peacock Shield and a bottle of champagne from organiser Richard Coventry
Forty members of the Senior Section gathered at Peterborough Thorpe Wood Golf Club for one of the most popular events in the calendar - the annual Away Day.
A full English breakfast and coffee in the pub that acts as a clubhouse got proceedings off to a pleasant start with a keen sense of anticipation for the golf to come.
The morning had started with torrential rain and the forecast was for showers throughout the day. But in fact conditions improved so much that, surprisingly, most of us ended up in shirtsleeves.
Afterwards, over a beer or two, we compared notes on the municipal course which was in remarkably good condition - only £18 a round should you fancy giving it a go.
Then on to the prizegiving.
Nearest the pin on the 1st was Michael Newstead.
Nearest the pin on the 11th was 6ft 4in Steve Collins - no he hasn't put on a growth spurt, that was his distance from the pin!
Nearest the pin on the 14th was Algy Grimes - an impressive 6ins from the pin.
Nearest the pin on the 16th was Paul Hammond.
In last place, winning a bottle of champagne and a lesson with a pro, was Bill Conway.
In fourth place, on 34 points, was Terry Domagala.
In third place, on 35 points, was Graham Lewis.
In second place, also on 35 points, was Nigel Underwood.
But the winner, on 36 points, was Senior Section Captain Tony Lloyd who was presented with a bottle of champagne and the much-coveted Jim Peacock Away Day Shield.
Tony thanked organiser Richard Coventry for running the event for the 11th and final year before handing over the reins to Algy Grimes.
To unanimous applause, Richard was presented with a bottle of champagne for all his hard work. He can now put his feet up!
